Spring Forward

Sunday, March 8th we spring forward filled with anticipation of sunshine, flowers and warmer weather so we can get outside and truly enjoy the pacific northwest. So remember to set your clocks forward! The skies brighten giving those who suffer through the long gray days of winter, with Seasonal Affective Disorder, a sense of relief.  We're already seeing the daffodils, forsythia, and tree buds coming to life early this year. This year's plantings of seedlings for vegetable gardens are being discussed, designed and planned out for the season ahead.  Studies prove getting outside, walking, gardening, bird watching, hiking, and even reading improve your overall health. The research shows being outdoors lowers blood pressure, anxiety, depression, and stress levels, simultaneously boosting energy levels, and elevating moods.

Spring is a time of renewal, rebirth and hope. We focus on providing that ray of hope to each individual and family we serve by sharing the knowledge that we're here to help them every step of the way. Distributing food supplies is just a part of what we do each day. Additional services we're working on right now for the year ahead include a wide array of topics. We're extremely excited to bring these classes to those we serve.Topics on nutrition for a healthier life, Celebrity Chef's and Kid's in the Kitchen, financial repair and strength for the future, basic job search and interview skills, vegetable gardening and preserving, and much more. We've also scheduled the DSHS Care Van, to provide on site individual review and assistance enrolling in eligible services and benefits. We are here to connect north county residents with the resources they need to build a stronger foundation for their future. Building strengths, skills and confidence through education that provides the building blocks to eliminate the many underlying factors that play a role in food insecurity and inter-generational poverty.
